It’s clever, using the phrase, “well, because of HIPAA, I can’t discuss my client’s issue.”  And that’s a good way if you want to skip actually talking to the client. We’re assuming of course, that happened … you know, actually speaking to the client.

Guess what? Most of the times, when dealing with an website selling ESA products, letters are issued without any client/therapist interaction.  If you think that’s wrong, well, so do we.


  1. As required by HUD, the letter fails to verify the client’s need for an emotional support animal.
