Traveling with your emotional support animal without any additional fee or costs is allowed by airline carriers if you have an ESA letter.

The Assessment

Via a telephone or video call, a licensed therapist located in your city or state will perform a mental health assessment.

  • Conveniently scheduled, the assessment is typically completed within an hour.
  • At the assessment's completion, you'll be informed of the therapist's decision to recommend an emotional support animal for your treatment.
  • Letters are good for one year. Letter securely delivered electronically and via US mail.

Please be VERY CAUTIOUS about most online vendors, as they will NOT have in-state therapists issuing ESA travel letters. Due to increased airline ESA requirements, you run a great risk of being denied accommodation, which is obviously a worst-case scenario.

ESA Travel Restrictions

Travel with your emotional support animal in the main cabin. In 2018, airlines have substantially toughened their travel policies and documentation requirements.

Support animals are expected to be seated in the floor space below a passenger’s seat, or seated in a passenger’s lap. The size of the animal must not exceed the “footprint” of the passenger’s seat. There is a limit of one support animal per customer per flight. All animals must behave appropriately and documentation for emotional support/psychiatric service animals must reflect the need for the additional animals.

All airlines require your ESA to be well behaved in public and calm on the plane.

Airlines now routinely call therapists to verify the treatment and diagnosis letter.  Additional fees are incurred if we provide this service. Without the purchase of this service, our therapists cannot verify the letter.

Pricing for emotional support animal letters include an online exam, clinical consultation, and letter of recommendation.

Airline Enhanced Travel Requirements

Most major US airlines now require mental health care providers to certify the passenger is currently undergoing professional care for ongoing treatment regarding a mental health-related disability. To ethically comply with airline regulations, the client/passenger must have engaged in a therapeutic session within the last 60 days.

Should the airline call (requires a signed protected health information release), our therapists can confirm the traveling passenger is under their care and treatment.

Airline Phone Verification Service

This service must be purchased in order for our therapist to verify an ESA letter when an airline calls (American, United, and Delta in particular).

Notes:

  1. This service can be ordered anytime and is subject to our cancellation and refund policy.
  2. The airline will speak directly with the therapist, not ESADoggy.
  3. A signed HIPAA waiver is required.

Expedited Assessment (3 Day Electronic Delivery)

Requests on a non-expedited basis are usually completed within five business days, excluding mailing time. With our three-day expedited assessment service, we typically complete your order within three business days (not counting weekends, and holidays). The expedited assessment processing fee is non-refundable.
